Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections
|Reported by:||Bob||Owned by:||developer|
Using Vista hm prem x64 **SP2**, latest ver of Vidalia bundle (Polipo & Torbutton).
Not POSITIVE this is bug, but are hundreds, maybe thousands hits on exact same problem in firefox 3.6.x. I've tried everything.
Ever since switching to FX 3.6x AND / OR upgrading to later Vidalia / Tor ver, can't get connection. Now always get FX err msg:
"The proxy server is refusing connections
Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections.
- Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct.
- Contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working."
* Checked settings in FX when Tor is running & torbutton enabled. It switches FX to Manual Proxy (as should). Proxy addresses & ports seem OK: http / ssl are 127.0.0.1 & port 8118; SOCKS is 127.0.0.1, port 9050
When launch Vidalia / Tor, it says has established connection (network map confirms connections). If I switch setting in FX Proxy setting to "auto-detect proxy settings", I CAN load web pages w/ Tor running, BUT THEN tests show my IP address NOT coming from Tor exit.
* Uninstalled / reinstalled Vidalia bundle couple times - no hint of problem. * Tried uninstalling TORBUTTON & changing FX proxy setting to Manual when using Tor - same FX err . * Tried unistalling Polipo & using Privoxy (w/ or w/o Torbutton) - no joy. Same FX err.
Have seen the same err msg from FX on hundreds of search hits - no real solution. I'm not a coder, but advanced enough to make some changes in config files.
